This variety in your heart rate - also called heart rate variability (HRV) - is in fact very healthy. With every inhale your heart rate speeds up a little and with every exhale it slows down again. And there is a direct link between your breathing and the functioning of your heart. ![]() One thing that you can control is your breathing. But it's not that easy, you can't always control what goes on around you. ‘Lowering stress’ seems to be the logical answer. Your heart is an essential link in all these processes, over which you have more influence than you might think. You will notice this imbalance through for example fatigue, hyperventilation, headaches, hypertension, bowel pain, anxiety, insecurity or burnout symptoms. Stress causes an imbalance in your bodily system. Psychological challenges such as stress and anxiety have a major impact on our heart coherence and therefore on our physical and mental health. Unfortunately, our system is not always in balance. Your hormone balance, digestion, body temperature, blood pressure, immune system and heart rate are in fact systems that work automatically and remain in balance on their own. Our autonomous nervous system is self-regulating, you don't have to think about anything. Look at your body as a synergistic system in which all functions work in optimal coherence with each other. The higher your 'heart coherence', the healthier and more coherent your heart is beating, and the more balanced you are emotionally and mentally. Heart coherence says something about the relationship between your heartbeat and other rhythms in your body, such as your breathing rhythm. Or we simply do not know that we can influence a healthy beating heart ourselves. That sounds logical, yet we generally pay little attention to it. The way your heart beats affects all other processes in your body. The importance of a healthy heartĪ healthy and resilient heart is essential for good physical and mental health. Did you know that you can influence your own heart rate? And that a healthy rhythm of your heart can be trained? Slow breathing is key. Both your physical and mental health suffer, especially if the stress becomes chronic. However, I'm not alone as many people across the globe are waking up to the heart centred work, and like myself are finding that it's been the "missing" piece for us.When you are stressed and tense, your heart rate shoots up. To ignore what worked for me would be to invalidate all that I've experienced and achieved to have got me here. I know from personal experience what happened when I started to apply this knowledge. I make no apologies for passing this information on and personally don't care if it's seen as "fringe". With the heart being the biggest magnetic part of the human body, when we increase coherence we increase our energy on all levels. My role as a heart focused coach is to map out with my client how to return to a more heart-centred life to increase satisfaction. Some of those feelings lead us to a more satisfactory life, and other emotions take us further away. In contrast, we can quickly become incoherent when we experience negative attitudes and emotions which may be present because of years of repetitive thoughts that we may not even be aware of (subconscious beliefs).īeing more coherent is not about wrong or right, or good or bad emotions! But rather acknowledging that our emotions are the result of years of conditioning. These include deliberately concentrating on feelings like caring, love and gratitude and other states of appreciation. ![]() One of the simplest and quickest paths to learn coherence is through intentional practice. So how do you get and grow heart coherence? Our emotions are symptoms and what happens when we ignore symptoms? They get LOUDER! How many times have we sensitive folk been shamed into being labelled as "over sensitive" or "over emotional" when in fact we are sitting on some high intelligence that we just haven't learnt to manage properly.
